43 years of ERP upgrades... and I concur. Moreover, I've observed the ERP change-out as a lever to policy/procedure change when we could have just tackled the hard people question of change. Instead, we avoid the direct confrontation and initiate these expensive and disruptive ERP initiatives because we would rather hide behind/blame the technology than tell the Registrar / Comptroller / Procurement officer that their policies and procedures suck.... what we really needed was a mirror and some courage to engage in honest dialogue.
